Day 9

 The Journey
Trunks has a big trunk. He is big and gray. He likes to eat a lot of food. He likes to live in the savannah. Trunks is very friendly and nice. He is a mammal. Trunks has big huge ears. He lives in the zoo. He saw many people taking pictures of him. Trunks was trying to pose. He wanted to be a male model. Trunks had to escape from this prison so he can have a job and become a real model. It was now night time. Trunks was ready with his plan. He jumped out of the cage, and he was out! He then ran out without being seen by the security guard. Trunks is finally out of the zoo. But the security guard came running back to trunks and caught him. Trunks tried to fight back. He then walked over to Model Studios. He walked up to the backdrop and told the camera person to take a picture of him.
One week later he got his picture back.  He had to go back to the zoo, because the security guard called him on Trunk’s new iPhone 6. Trunks then went back to the zoo. During his journey he met many animal and made lots of new friends. He had a great time. He was also very satisfied with his modeling picture. Then he got call from Model Studios and they want his to walk on runway. He agreed. As he was waking to get food, he tripped and broke his leg. He can’t do runway modeling now. He is very disappointed. But he can still pose for the visitors. After a few months his leg heals and he is now able to do his runway modeling. However, it created a permanent scar that is going to stay forever. He is still very happy.
As he is growing up, he gets more and more offers and opportunities to meet different fashion designers and walk on different runways. He loved his new job. Every day the security guard would let him go out and audition for different magazines and companies. Trunks is getting more and more rich. Trunks loves his new life. He bought a big mansion and married a panther. He now has another problem. He is getting old and needs to have a plastic surgery. He has lots of wrinkles now and Trunks is on the verge of losing his job. He goes to his plastic surgeon and gets the surgery a few days later. He starts getting more offers after a few months he is back on track. He has a lot of friends now. Trunks is becoming more and more popular. He is very proud of himself. After many years, he was ready to die. He was thinking about how he lived his life. He had a dream and he made it come true. He learned so many things from his journey. He learned how much pressure people put on models, especially the new and upcoming ones. He also learned that you have to be perfect both inside and out. He is now dead, buried under the thick soil in the cemetery. Trunks will always be remembered for what he did.

Day 8

Canoeing
When I was canoeing I heard many things,
I heard lots of bugs buzzing around me.
I heard the water swishing making beautiful ripple in the water, as the canoe is moving.
I heard the canoe crash into the fallen trees

To make a river

To make a river, it takes billions of gallons of water,
millions of rocks and pebbles, and finally loads of fish if ducks are few.

Day 7

Vignettes
A Vignette is a brief description of a small snapshot in a scenery or picture.

The Hidden Bear-Practice
Water, water everywhere
Flowing from the waterfall, into the river
Big, bulky rocks surrounding the flowing river
Fishes swimming in the river
Bright colors everywhere
Trees covered in deep greens
Small plants with a pinch of reds, oranges, and yellows
Pure white snow covering the big, rocky mountain

The big trees, where the hidden bear stands.

Creature Vignette: Snake

Hungry, looking for food. Slithering in the plants. Hsssssssssss! Even more Hungry. Black and white stripes stand out from the green nature. Finds people taking picture. Tries to hide. Shiny scales glint in the bright sun. This beautiful reptile now becomes scared. Slithering away from the dangerous people, looking for lunch. Found a small pretty rabbit hopping here and there. Bites the rabbit with its fangs as sharp as a knife. Finishes off the rabbit leaving nothing but bones. No more hunger. No more rabbit.

Day 6

Kayaking
Today went kayaking at the Dayton Eastwwod Metro Parks. Here is my observation for the kayak.

See: Looked like a giant yellow banana floating in the water

Hear: Sounded like a big bang when hitting something

Smell: Smelled like fresh leaves and trees surrounding the water

Taste: Tasted liked dirty water with a hint of saltiness

Felt: Felt like an uncomfortable piece of plastic

This is one of the plants that we learned at the park. It is called Yellow Wing Stem Plant.

Day 5

Planning a Hike
Today, the main thing that we did was plan a hike with our partner. We had to write the place, distance, number of days, the item we wanted to pack/quantity/weight, and finally we got an chance to put the total amount of weight into a backpack using weights, then try it on.
We decided to choose the Buckeye Trail because it wasn't too long and it wasn't too short.
We decided to go in the fall
We wanted to walk about 722( half of the trail) in about 92 days. So we would have to walk 7 to 8 miles per day.

These are the list of item we choose, including the quantity, and weight/total weight:

This process was very collaborative. We worked together to decided what we both needed. we had some arguments here and there, but we solved them. For example, when we deciding on whether to bring a journal or not, we were arguing about it for a while. Then we just decided to not use it, because it wouldn't be as necessary as the other items. For choosing the items, we first listed the main important things, then listed the least important things.

Day 4

Aullwood Audubon
Today we went to an Audubon in Dayton. We learned about many things here. We first went to see the some birds using our binoculars. Then we went on a hike through the woods, and visited a lake, saw some more birds, and finally a restroom break in the main building. Next we visited he farm and ate lunch. From this trip, I learned that even all of the creatures, they still depend on each other for survival. My favorite art of this experience was the farm. I really liked the farm because I liked seeing the animals and looking at how they act compared to how we act. It was truly a great experience.

This is the Contemplation that I wrote:

Imagine yourself laying down in an island isolated from the whole world. Should be calm and peaceful. No stress, no worries. The deep, crystal blue ocean is surrounding you. It is not too hot, not too cold. As you stand up and notice that the ocean is empty, and seems pretty shallow. You go into the cold water feeling even more relaxed. You can smell the saltiness of the water. The cold seaweed sticks to your body as you swim deeper and deeper. You start feeling some objects like seashells. As you get even deeper you start to see small tiny fish. You simply just pull one small fish out of the water.
You are now getting out of the water still firmly holding the fish. You go into the jungle in the middle of the island, which is surrounded by the ocean. You find some wood, and rub them against each other repeatedly, to start a fire. After you finally succeed, you cook the fish on top of the fire. You then eat the fish. You then put out the fire and walk around the jungle. You hear some birds cawing here and there. After A nice walk, you go back to where you were in the beginning and lay down. You then wake up in your comfy bed.

Day 3

Cox Arboretum
Today we explored this park. We had to do an activity where we had to pick five trees and take a picture of the leaf, the bark,  the entire tree and the marker for the tree. We the allowed to walk around and explore the place on our own. Our group waked around and went inside the small ventilated building. We also went to the tower and looked around. We ate lunch before 12;00 on the tower and played a charades. Everyone then did yoga outside in the grass. It felt rel relaxing and calm. However it was very hot and it felt kind of stuffy. We then left and came back to school.

Day 2

Delco Park
Today walked all the way to Delco Park. We did an activity with an author. We had to pick a sentence from a magazine paper,  and make a haiku poem using that sentence. Next we had to make a dialogue between two people using a different sentence. We then did an activity where we had to observe an area from the park. It had to be approximately one square foot. We had to observe it from a standing position, then  observe it from a sitting position, and finally observe it while laying down on our belly. When we were standing we all saw grass, two flowers, and many leaves, such as clovers. Then when we were sitting we saw more detailed things. There were holes in some of the leaves, different shades of green and small patches of dirt. We finally laid down and saw more dirt, some dead leaves, and tiny seeds. As we got closer the the area, with different positions, the ground looked bigger and bigger. There was a huge difference from when we stood up, to when we laid down. It felt as if I was in a different world.

Day 1

Introduction
To the Woods is a STEM-Mersion about living deliberately and being free without any restrictions. Today we had to describe the meaning of it and share it to the class. We also got to know each other. Then we did a collaboration activity, where were divided into two teams, and we had to get to the other side of the hallway with out stepping on the floor. However, each team was only allowed to use four wooden blocks. Next, we discussed the syllabus and the class rules. So today we were introduced to this STEM-Mersion and we all got to know each other.

This is the collaboration activity that we had done.
